OUR DEMANDS

tech BILLIONAIRES:

  • The top 1% of Americans control 30% of the nation’s wealth, while the bottom 50% own just 2.5%. Yet, while tens of millions of Americans can’t afford rent, food and healthcare, the rich just keep getting richer.

    This isn’t a broken system—it’s a rigged one.

    To end this injustice, billionaires must be removed from every level of government. Democracy is not a pay-to-win game.

  • Innocent people are being disappeared into detention centers, entire communities are being dehumanized and targeted, and Donald Trump alongside billionaires are orchestrating an illegal, unconstitutional dismantling of the federal government. Companies like Palantir are profiting off of deportations and genocide.

    In the face of this rising fascism, all institutions—government agencies, corporations, universities, and nonprofits—must cut ties with this regime and refuse cooperation at every level.

  • Elon Musk has stoked white supremacist conspiracy theories, performed Nazi salutes on live TV, celebrated far-right violence online, and illegally fired tens of thousands of federal workers.

    Tesla’s board must fire Elon Musk. Local governments and public institutions must boycott all of Musk’s ventures and sever ties immediately.

WELLS FARGO:

  • Wells Fargo must immediately stop financing all coal, oil, gas, and petrochemical expansion, phase out all financing of fossil fuels, and scale up financing for renewable energy in line with what is required to limit global warming to no more than a 1.5°C pathway.

  • 27 Wells Fargo branches have voted to unionize, but Wells Fargo is engaging in union-busting.

    Wells Fargo must end all union-busting activity and recognize the rights of its workers to organize and collectively bargain without retaliation.

  • Wells Fargo must divest from Elbit Systems, Palantir, and all weapons manufacturers and tech-surveillance corporations fueling the genocide in Gaza and the wave of mass deportations and attacks on immigrant communities in the U.S.

  • Wells Fargo has been advancing a backdoor plan to privatize the U.S. Postal Service, eliminate union jobs, and raise prices for everyday Americans.

    Wells Fargo must end these efforts immediately.

  • Wells Fargo must immediately reinstate its 2030 and 2050 financed and facilitated emissions reductions targets for the oil and gas sector, ensuring that the bank’s targets are aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

  • Wells Fargo has a lengthy history of targeting communities of color with predatory lending and redlining, as well as financing polluting industries that disproportionately impact low-income communities of color, especially Black and Indigenous communities. Yet, in 2025, Wells Fargo dropped its already too-weak commitments to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

PRINCIPLES

Stop Billionaires Summer brings together a multiracial, multigenerational, and cross-class movement throughout the Bay Area for eight weeks of sustained nonviolent direct action. We demand an end to the billionaire class’s control over our economy, communities, and planet.

Our work together is guided by these principles:

  • We know exactly who’s driving authoritarianism, racism and xenophobia, climate collapse, and economic violence: billionaires and the corporations they control. We won’t waste energy on infighting or interclass conflict—that only serves the state and the elite. Our fight is with the billionaires exploiting our communities and our planet.

  • Racial capitalism is the engine behind displacement, poverty, climate collapse, and oppression. Our fight is about the systems that concentrate wealth and power into the hands of a few at the expense of the many.

  • We cannot afford to lose. We act with strategy, discipline, and determination, and we do it with the belief that another world is possible, and we can create it together.

  • Mass action is how we win. We grow our movement through political education, community trainings, direct actions, and fun events that bring people in. We welcome people wherever they are in their learning.

  • Our struggles are interconnected. Migrant justice, climate justice, housing rights, the labor fight, Palestinian liberation, anti-war and anti-imperialism—all are part of the same fight against systems of violence driven by racial capitalism and settler-colonial logic. We show up for each other across movements because we know our liberation is tied together.

  • From jail support and medics to food and emotional care, we invest in community infrastructure to support one another before, during, and after action. This is a key survival tactic. We need every one of us in this fight, and that means protecting each other so we can keep showing up, keep building power, and keep throwing down.

  • The state holds enormous power to surveil, criminalize, and harm us. Our systems are rigged, and the risks are real. We choose nonviolent direct action because it’s the clearest path we have to disrupt billionaire power while protecting our people. We know that even small actions, like pushing an employee or breaking a window, can escalate charges, trigger restitution demands, or lead to felony charges.

  • Stop Billionaires Summer is a regional campaign taking place across the Bay Area and Northern California generally. Most actions will take place across the Bay Area, but we’ll also organize in Sacramento at times.

  • Elon Musk is one face of the crisis, but he’s far from the only one. From Palantir’s spy-cop technology that enables ICE and the Israeli military to commit mass atrocities to Big Tech’s intent to build out mega-polluting AI expansion plans, control all our private data, and take over our governance structures, we know we cannot stop fascism or climate collapse without stopping these tech billionaires’ dystopian business plans. 

    It’s not just Big Tech, either: the Bay Area is littered with corporations like Wells Fargo that are bending the knee to Trump. We’re here to say: if you are going to cooperate with fascists, we are here to hold you accountable.

  • At our actions, we make space for many different roles and risk levels, including low-risk options that are accessible to most people. 

    That said, any public demonstration carries some inherent risk, and we can’t guarantee how police will respond. Depending on the specific action and role you choose to take on, there may be a risk of arrest.

    We’re committed to making sure everyone can make an informed choice. Before every action, we’ll hold legal briefings and a clear informed consent process, so you know what to expect and can decide what level of involvement is right for you.

  • Yes. Every action will be accompanied by a legal briefing with lawyers, and we have a jail and legal support team to support anyone who faces repression. That includes organizing jail support, court accompaniment, and post-action care.
